π¦ Florida Man Tries to Fly Home with 10 Birds in His Pants
Customs officers at Miami International Airport noticed an "unexplained bulge" on a traveler coming back from Havana. Inside his underwear? Plastic tubes with mesh openings, sewn into special pockets, holding 10 live songbirds. Federal agents charged him under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. The birds have flown the coop, legally this time. Who knew a 108-year-old bird law could still catch a Florida Man.

βοΈ The "Crossword Bandit" Leaves One Clue Too Many
Lee County bartenders had a nickname for the guy who kept running up tabs and leaving without paying. He always left the same calling card behind: a crossword puzzle book. Deputies say Ronald Wladich ran out on Ron Dao's Pizzeria and rode off on his bicycle. They caught up with him and added a DUI charge for allegedly pedaling into a Wendy's parking lot drunk. Seven letters, ends in "D": BUSTED. (Close enough.)

πΈοΈ Caught in a Net Like a Fish on I-75
Hillsborough deputies spotted a wanted man driving north on I-75 near Fowler Avenue. Instead of a high-speed chase, they used the Grappler: a net that drops from the front of the patrol car and wraps around the suspect's rear tire. The car rolled to a stop on the shoulder and he was arrested without incident. Florida: where even the cops go fishing on the interstate.

Spooky season has started in Davenport. Polk deputies say a woman's golf cart was decked out in stolen pumpkin-print cushions. When a detective asked her about it, she admitted it and gave the most honest motive of the year: she took them because she liked them. Fair, but it still got her a trip to the county jail.
