Why is it called "bug hunting"?
Florida divers call spiny lobster "bugs," so going after them is bug hunting. The two-day sport season in late July — mini season — is one of the biggest days on the water in the state, and the regular season runs August through March.
What does the dive flag mean?
The red flag with the white diagonal stripe signals divers below, and Florida law requires it to be displayed while diving. Wearing it is a diver's handshake — other divers know exactly what it means.
Trucker or performance hat for diving?
Performance, if you're on a boat all day and getting wet — the whole shell wicks and dries. Trucker if you want the mesh back and the bolder patch look topside.
